Matt & Marianne {Philadelphia Wedding Photography}
Matt and Marianne's wedding was a day full of family and laughter that not even a random and unforeseen downpour could hold back. Thanks for having me be a part of your day, you two :)

I Am a Person
Not a robot.
Connections are more important to me than anything else. When you meet someone new, what makes you want to spend more time with them? The connection, right? You had a great conversation, you laughed at each other’s jokes, you got each other’s quirks. You want to spend time with them again. To me, this is--hands down--the most important thing when booking a client.
I often get email inquires that say “what packages do you have available”? That’s it... And I get it. I know it’s hard to email a photographer and “know what to ask”, so I look at this question as a door opener, not a slammed window. My response 99% of the time is “why don’t you come in for a consultation and we’ll discuss your wedding and then talk about what you’re looking for in your package”. Why? Because I want to meet you! I want to chat, to laugh, to see what you are like and what I can do for you. Why would you want someone with you for 10 hours on the most important day of your life who you don’t understand, or don’t enjoy being with? 50% of the time, I don’t hear back from the person who has inquired with that question...because they aren’t interested in who I am and what I have to offer; the bottom line is more important. And that’s fine. There are a lot of photographers who are okay with that.
I’m just not that photographer.
I am not a robot, I am a person. I am in love with people; making people happy is what makes me do what I do...and strive to be a better artist. Without a connection you have a flat image, an unmemorable experience, and wasted money. With a connection, you have images that come alive; images make you relive what the air smelled like, what you were thinking about, how you felt while they were being taken. You remember everything about the experience of that image that you now treasure.
I’m writing this for all the brides unsure of where to start, for the photographers who are afraid to say “no” because they need the money, and for myself...because in this industry it’s sometimes easy to feel removed from people because of those who are not valuing you as a person, and just solely as a commodity to take advantage of. Look for connections, and remember you’re not a machine.
